Reeves-Reed Arboretum seeks two part-time Interns (one Spring Intern from February to May 2013 and one Summer Intern from May to September 2013). Through hands-on horticultural work, the Intern will learn the fundamentals of display horticulture and landscape maintenance in a public-garden environment.
Applicant should have enthusiasm for horticulture and gardening, be able to lift and carry 40 lbs., and perform manual work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Prior gardening experience is desirable but not necessary. This position is offered May-September 2013. Start and end dates are flexible. No financial compensation is offered for this position. Reeves-Reed Arboretum is pleased to work with the intern's educational institution to provide documentation of internship status for academic credit.

The only arboretum in Union County, NJ, Reeves-Reed Arboretum encompasses 13.5 acres of historic gardens, horticultural displays, and natural woodland and meadow areas. Originally established as a private estate in 1889, the Arboretum opened its doors to the public in 1974 and is listed on both the National and State Registers of Historic Places.
