If you spend time outside, you may notice that nature has its own calendar that marks the passage of time. Color returns to the landscape in April as daffodils and crocus emerge from their winter sleep. In May and June songbirds are calling at 5am and there is an explosion of color as the spring ephemerals bloom and many of the trees are in flower. July is the month of thunderstorms and blood red sunsets. And without even referring to a paper calendar, I know it’s August with the cicadas calling by day and the katydids at night.
August is also the time when we roll out our fall programming and gear up for another fun season at the Arboretum! Make sure to check out the great programs our team has put together, and I look forward to seeing you in the gardens soon.
Until next time,
