Restoring the Woods!
It’s been a busy winter and spring in the Woodland at Reeves-Reed Arboretum! The Horticulture Department -along with dedicated RRA volunteer groups- implemented major trail renovations, seeded 1/4 acre with native woodland ground-cover species, and planted over 25 native tree saplings.
Goats are the G.O.A.T.
We don’t usually start talking about goats around here at the Arboretum until the fall. We look forward to our furry friends from Green-Goats Farm in Rhinebeck, NY returning year after year, to help us clear the overgrowth in the daffodil bowl. But I think about goats year-round! A Horticulturist in Winter
I can now say that I have been in public horticulture professionally for two decades now. In that time I've been asked dozens of times "What ever do you do in the winter?".
The most recent question came during the Festival of Trees, accompanied by "Do you take a two month holiday?".
I wish! I've been wanting to write a rant an essay on this for years!
