Reeves-Reed Arboretum, together with the City of Summit’s Shade Tree Advisory Committee, presents three powerful programs, in our returning series called Fall in Love With Trees.
Part Three of the series features Sara Fern Fitzsimmons, Director of Restoration at The American Chestnut Foundation. The American Chestnut was once a primary component of forests in the eastern U.S., but plant importation in the 1800s brought a devastating fungal disease that all but eliminated the American Chestnut from its original range. Ms. Fitzsimmons shares the dedicated work that is being done to restore this species to forests over the next 50 to 100 years, despite challenges like invasive vegetation, diseases, pests, climate change and overdevelopment.
Program is being offered onsite and virtually. Onsite space is limited and reservations are encouraged.
