Annual Maple Sugaring Fest 2021

HOW SWEET IT IS!
Annual Maple Sugaring Fest

Sunday, February 28th, 1pm to 4pm

Reeves-Reed Arboretum
165 Hobart Avenue
Summit, NJ 07901

Summit, NJ Just a sweet reminder that as the cold winter months slowly slip away and the forest floor comes to life, maple syrup season is truly one of the first signs of spring. What better way to celebrate the coming of spring than with some family fun at Reeves-Reed Arboretum's annual Maple Sugaring Fest, Sunday, February 28, from 1 to 4 pm (snow date, Sunday, March 7). This year the event will have staggered entry times (1:00 pm, 1:30 pm, 2:00 pm, 2:30 pm and 3:00 pm). While pre-registration is not required, it is strongly recommended to ensure entry.

Enjoy a brisk winter afternoon outdoors at the Arboretum learning the steps involved in turning tree sap into delicious maple syrup. Take the family on a leisurely arboretum walk to complete the maple sugaring challenge. There will also be tapping and cooking demonstrations, and a story walk, all at this annually anticipated, family-friendly interactive festival. RRA's Environmental Educators Althea Llewellyn, Marilyn Kelly, and Linda Price, head up the team of RRA staff and volunteers to start the fires going and to heat up the hot cocoa. The Arboretum welcomes back Maple Magic, as the featured vendor, with their delicious maple cotton candy. And don't forget, this is an outdoor, socially distant event, so be sure to dress for the weather, and don't forget your mask.

Thanks to underwriting by our partners at Investors Savings Bank, the Arboretum's annual Maple Sugaring Fest is free to all RRA members. The admission for nonmembers is $5 per person. Not a member? Now's the sweet time to sign up and join the fun!
