Daffodil Day 2015

The hills are alive – with Daffodils!
DAFFODIL DAY at Reeves-Reed Arboretum
Sunday, April 19, 11 am to 4 pm
165 Hobart Avenue
Summit, NJ 07901

Summit, NJ:  Celebrate spring at Reeves-Reed Arboretum and come see and enjoy one of the largest daffodil collections in New Jersey, Sunday, April 19, from 11 am to 4 pm. The collection, planted in the Arboretum's glacially carved 'kettle' or bowl, was started in the early 1900s by the original owners of the property, the Wisners. Successive owners, the Reeves and Reeds, added to the collection and new bulbs continue to be planted every year. Today the collection boasts more than 50,000 bulbs and Daffodil Day has become one of the most eagerly anticipated signature events at the Arboretum bringing visitors from all over the state.

After such a snowy and cold winter, everyone seems impatient for spring, including the bulbs. But daffodil peeking is only one part of the festivities. The Arboretum staff, headed by Director of Children's Education Jackie Kondel, and Environmental Educator, Lisa Martin, will host a day's work of wonderful, family-friendly activities such as an outdoor farmer's market with vendors and food trucks a plenty, crafts and games for all, and live entertainment. Professional photographer, Bruce Lorenz, will be on hand to take those special family photographs, and RRA's Director of Horticulture, Marc Montefusco, will present an exhibition of his beautiful watercolors entitled Leaf - Stone - Water, on view in the Wisner House gallery. An added special treat will be the welcoming back of Larry and Ann, of the Green Goats project in Rhinebeck, NY, with their newest brood of baby goats for guests to feed and pet.

Thanks to underwriting by our partners at Investors Savings Bank, Daffodil Day is free to all RRA members. The admission for nonmembers is $10 per person or $25 per family. Not a member? Now's the time to sign up!
