Reeves-Reed Arboretum Annual Holiday House Tour Set for December 4
SUMMIT – Things are getting festive as the final touches are being put on Reeves-Reed Arboretum's Annual Holiday House Tour, set for Thursday, Dec. 4 from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. The tour will include seven elegant homes in Summit and Short Hills, all decked out for the holidays, ranging from contemporary homes to stylish Tudors, and including the mansion at Greenwood Gardens and the historic Wisner House on the Arboretum grounds.
And don't miss the opportunity to do your holiday shopping at the same time. Wisner House will once again host the annual Holiday Boutique, open on the day of the tour from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., where tour participants can shop for holiday gifts handmade by area artists and craftsmen. Also on display and for sale will be one-of-a-kind holiday wreaths and decorations created by the Arboretum's gardeners and volunteers. The Holiday Boutique will continue on Saturday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. when you can have cookies and cocoa with Santa and have your picture taken while you tell him if you've been naughty or nice ($5 per child; accompanying adults, complementary).
Tickets for Holiday House Tour are $35 for RRA members ($40 for non members). A special package that includes an elegant buffet luncheon at the beautiful Beacon Hill Club is $70. For ticket-bearers at the $250 level, the day includes a pair of tickets, the luncheon, and a jitney ride that leaves from the Grand Summit and takes participants to each home on the tour.
"Every year, the Holiday House Tour gets more exciting as more people turn out to see these beautiful homes," said Frank Juliano, Executive Director of Reeves-Reed Arboretum. "This year's event promises to be one of the best ever with so many breathtaking homes, and even more beautiful gifts at the Holiday Boutique."
And as an added treat, a special holiday concert, featuring a return engagement of the award-winning Asylum Quartet, will take place on Saturday evening, December 6, at 7:00 p.m. performing a unique arrangement of The Nutcracker Suite for saxophones, as well as other beloved holiday fare. Concertgoers will also be invited to enjoy latkes and vodka at intermission to help keep the spirits festive. Tickets for the concert are $25. Admission is free to RRA members. Reservations are required.
