Reeves-Reed Arboretum Receives Grant from New Jersey Cultural Trust

Summit - Reeves-Reed Arboretum announces the completion of its newly designed website. The design, created by JAM Graphics in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, was made possible through an Institutional and Financial Stabilization Grant from The New Jersey Cultural Trust.  “The creation of this redesigned website will allow us to reach a broader audience”, states Gayle Petty-Johnson, Executive Director. “The Arboretum is a valuable community resource and we want to increase awareness and offer programs to as many people as possible.”

In 2009, the Arboretum received a grant from the Cultural Trust for the completion of a strategic plan. The plan addressed the importance of increasing the public’s awareness and use of the facility. With this latest grant award, the Arboretum has been able to improve its web based technology and achieve the goal of better community outreach.

Reeves-Reed Arboretum is the only public garden and one of the largest green spaces in the City of Summit. It is the only arboretum in Union County.  The Arboretum seeks to engage, educate and enrich its visitors so they may become better stewards of nature and the environment. This mission is achieved through the care and utilization of an historic estate and gardens. Reeves-Reed Arboretum is listed on both the National and New Jersey Historic Registries and has received funding from the New Jersey Historical Commission.
