The Mutual Admiration Society
There may be some purple prose, for which I will absolutely not apologize for.
Several years ago a wonderful teenager came into our lives at the Arboretum, volunteering on Saturdays with me.
In the few years of volunteering she formed bonds with other high schoolers from completely different schools and it has been amazing to watch their friendships form and grow.
This past spring she spoke at our fundraiser, ART in the Garden. I will quote her here:
Restoring the Woods!
It’s been a busy winter and spring in the Woodland at Reeves-Reed Arboretum! The Horticulture Department -along with dedicated RRA volunteer groups- implemented major trail renovations, seeded 1/4 acre with native woodland ground-cover species, and planted over 25 native tree saplings.
When the Bloom Fades
I love it when the seasons change. During the approach to each equinox, I look forward to feeling a change in temperature, seeing the shift in the way sunlight falls, and watching the many ways that plants react to a new season. This year, our typically crisp autumn weather hasn’t been as cool as some years, but the nights will likely dip below freezing this week.
