Peter's Pond & Bog Garden

In the bog garden, native New Jersey carnivorous plants flourish beside a pond that is a favorite spot for children and migrating birds. Formerly part of the Wildlife Habitat, the pond is home to goldfish and golden carp, which find refuge in a cave at the base of the cascade, safe from Great Blue Herons. Here, you can discover hardy Venus flytraps and pitcher plants, and with a keen eye, you might even spot some sundews!

The Oasis Garden

No, it’s not a tropical paradise—it’s an island in the Reeves-Reed parking lot, thoughtfully landscaped to showcase a collection of charming and unusual plants. Along the perimeter, you’ll find a variety of intriguing specimens, including the striking paperbark maple (Acer griseum), the witch hazel relative Parrottia persica, and a large Cephalotaxus harringtonii, affectionately known as “cow-tail pine,” a name that becomes clear upon seeing its distinctive appearance.
