Join John Beirne, Reeves-Reed Arboretum’s Curatorial Director of Horticulture, on a stroll through both the core grounds and woodland areas to observe the multicolored autumnal tones developing on our trees, shrubs, and even perennials. John will discuss the science behind autumnal coloration and highlight some of our star specimen trees and plants, known especially for their vibrant fall foliage. He will also explain factors that can influence fall coloration both positively and negatively. All plants discussed will be properly identified with their genus and species names.
Perhaps next year, you’ll be inspired to plant trees and shrubs that showcase stunning autumn colors in your own gardens!
Please wear sturdy hiking boots, long jeans or pants, and come prepared with a bottle of water and insect repellent.
